- In 1978, Richard co-founded Comprehensive Benefits (CBSC), which grew to become the largest third-party administrator in the Northeast. Through mergers and acquisitions, this company as Employee Benefit Plans (EBP), grew and was eventually sold to First Health, a division of First Data Corporation.
- In 1995 Richard created Thesco Benefits, LLC (“Thesco”). This broker/consultant grew from a start-up to the 9th largest specialist in the country. Through mergers and acquisitions, this company (T&H group) was eventually sold to Alliant Insurance Services Inc., a portfolio company of The Blackstone Group.
- ELMC was the latest venture in a series of successful insurance related entities Richard has created. Since 2013, Richard built ELMC through the acquisition of best-in-class MGUs with funding partnership from the investment firm J.C. Flowers & Co.
